Penny Hamilton and Patti Post.
We are sisters and have always had dogs in our lives; I think our parents had dogs before we were even thought of. There are stories of Penny teething on the family dog's tail. They have not always been Standard Schnauzers, but dogs have always been a part of our family.
Patti started Postem's Standard Schnauzers in 1995 with the help of mentors in the breed. I started showing my dog in conformation and completed her Championship in Bred by Owner.
Penny had a Standard Schnauzer of her own that was a family pet and a constant companion to her husband.
We decided to merge together and we have shown, raised litters together and have enjoyed having ours dogs enrich our lives.
At the end of 2015, Penny left California to make her new home in Florida. So in visiting with us, you have the best of both coasts. Penny lives in Florida with some of our dogs and Patti is in California with the others, but we have kept the same kennel name.
At this time and most any time we have some of our dogs in the show ring and they are doing great. They also compete in other events such as agility and obedience; they love doing new things. They enjoy long walks, picnics, beach, garage sales and riding in the car other words they are family and they are with us the majority of the time. They are our family first and conformation and performance dogs second.
Breeding, testing, and being honest about what we have learned is the only way we can help our great dogs stay healthy. Keep in mind that things happen in life that cannot be explained or controlled, but as a reputable breeder, we stand behind our dogs.
We've been breeding Standard Schnauzers for about 19 years. I am proud to say that most of our dogs have lived long, healthy lives, and have died of old age. We take a number of precautions in an effort to advance the health of the breed. We breed to improve the overall Standard Schnauzer. As such, we breed for Temperament, Health and the correct Physical attributes to further the breed as Performance and Companion animals per AKC Standards.
